Take Action!

DONATE

The most powerful force in society is a child with a dream and the nurturing, knowledge and means to achieve that dream. We cannot afford to waste even one child’s dream. No child can do it alone—Breakthrough surrounds each child with a community that encourages and supports them until they cross the graduation stage.

By donating to Breakthrough Central Texas, you are creating profound change for the future of our students, their families and our community.

Breakthrough works.

Each year Breakthrough Central Texas admits a new class of 280 6th graders from Austin ISD, Manor ISD, and Del Valle ISD. In 2020, serve more than 2,000 students in grades six through college.

Breakthrough students graduate from college at 7x the rate of similar peers.

Breakthrough students graduate college at 2.5 times the rate of all students in the region.

98% of Breakthrough students graduate high school on time, compared to 83% of similar peers.

90% of students stay in Breakthrough from 6th grade through college.

90% enroll directly into college, compared to 41% of similar peers in Central Texas.

ADVOCATE

Today’s new challenges have only affirmed our commitment to launch a policy advocacy practice. We are raising our voice, along with others, to advocate for relief funding and policies that will help to alleviate the inequities our communities face. There are some critical policy conversations happening right now as we champion federal, state and local policies that promote equity in college attainment and that support students to succeed on their path to college graduation. Ultimately, it’s all about ensuring that every student has the opportunity to build the life of their choosing.

Sign up for our newsletter to hear how you can support these initiatives in the months to come. Together we can promote policies that lead to more college breakthroughs across our region and beyond.

VOLUNTEER

Interested in becoming a 2021 Virtual Volunteer? Breakthrough is looking for volunteers to serve as  academic tutors. Help students build their academic skills by providing them with the tools they need to be successful students. Possible activities may include helping students with homework assignments, helping with a math quiz helping to understand a science problem, or simply just motivating a student to meet deadlines on time and keep up their grades.
